Heartopia on Steam is the only way to play the game right now. The Steam version gives you full achievements, cloud saves, Steam friends integration, and automatic updates. No other platform has a version of Heartopia. If you want to play, you need Steam. That is good news because Steam handles all the annoying stuff — updates, save backups, and friend invites — automatically.

Steam Deck performance
Heartopia is not officially Steam Deck verified, but it runs reasonably well on Deck hardware. Set graphics to Medium, cap at 30 FPS, and expect 2–3 hours of battery life. The text is readable on the 7-inch screen. Some UI buttons are small but functional. Town loading is slower than on desktop, taking about 20 seconds instead of 8. Proton Experimental works better than the default compatibility layer.
