Heartopia Relationship Guide — How to Make Friends and NPCs

Updated 2026-06-03

Heartopia relationship guide covers the full friendship system. You befriend NPCs by talking to them daily, giving gifts, and completing their requests. Each NPC has a friendship bar from 0 to 10. Every rank unlocks something new — recipes, furniture, outfits, or cosmetic items. There is no romance in Heartopia — every relationship is platonic. That is fine. The NPCs are written well enough that you will genuinely enjoy checking in on them.

You can give one gift per NPC per in-game day. The gift window resets at 6 AM in-game time, not real time. If you play at night, your daily gift counts for the next day starting at 6 AM game time.

Friendship grinding strategy

Do not try to befriend everyone at once. Focus on one NPC per week. Find their loved gift, craft or buy a stack of them, and give one every day. Combined with a daily chat, you gain about 30 friendship points per day. Each rank requires roughly 100 points, so one focused week gets you to rank 2. Rank 10 takes about 4–5 weeks of daily gifts per NPC. Start with Doris or Finn — their rewards help with gardening and fishing progression. Read our NPC Friendship guide for detailed personality breakdowns of every character.

FAQ

Do NPCs get upset if I ignore them?
No. Friendship decay does not exist in Heartopia. If you log off for a month, your NPC relationships stay exactly as you left them.
Can I max all NPCs at once?
Technically yes, but practically no. You only have energy for a few gifts per day. Focus on two or three NPCs at a time.
